Our Vision
Our vision is that by 2014 Somerset’s voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations will contribute as both partners and as leaders to the economic development, social cohesion, and environmental sustainability of the county’s diverse communities.
Our Mission
Our mission is to make the vision a reality through:

Facilitating the modernisation of the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector and providing more comprehensive and higher quality support services and advice to the sector

Improving the sector’s representation and impact on strategic bodies at a district, county, regional and national level

Promoting the economic and social impact of volunteering, creating more volunteering opportunities for both individuals and organisations, and promoting equality of access to a wide range of volunteering opportunities through inclusive and accessible infrastructures

Facilitating collaboration between voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations, and developing partnership arrangements with public and private sector organisations

Creating awareness of the diversity of Somerset’s communities, encouraging and promoting good equalities practice and supporting equalities communities throughout Somerset
How we work
The work of SCIPP focuses on support for the Somerset voluntary and community sector infrastructure by:
Strategic representation: Ensuring that the diverse voices of the Somerset VCS is represented by working towards establishing a VCS Assembly for Somerset
Development: SCIPP works with its partners to identify gaps in provision and to support new initiatives
Liaison: SCIPP will continue to develop links across the VCS and statutory sector by establishing networks and consultation events
Projects / Services: SCIPP will commission work from VCS delivery partners ensuring transparency and value for money in this process.
