David Stapleton is a former local government director, with a 21 year track
record in Somerset as a chief officer working in partnership with the
voluntary and community sector to promote health and wellbeing, and reduce
health and social inequalities.
He was the lead director for South Somerset District Council's community
grants programme and community initiatives team, and lead director for the
Somerset LAA.
David was a member of the Stronger Communities sub-group and Somerset Health
& Wellbeing Partnership, and served as a Board member on both the Taunton
and Area and South Somerset Primary Care Groups, and more recently the
Professional Executive Committee of the South Somerset Primary Care Trust.
David pioneered the groundbreaking South Somerset Health & Wellbeing
Partnership in 2001 with South Somerset PCT and Somerset County Council, and
developed in 2007 the first ever district council Strategy for Health &
Wellbeing in the country.
David Chairs the Smokefree Somerset Alliance.
Nick Carter has been a community development practitioner for more than
thirty years, a career spanning both local government and volunteer sector
roles. A founder of one of Bristol's first inner city community family
centres, he went on to work in county, district and unitary authorities in a
variety of community work settings and roles, including as senior community
development officer for South Gloucestershire. He joined Somerset Racial
Equality Council as its first director at the end of the 90s and has
latterly been based with Age Concern Somerset working with community groups
for older people.
Matt Day has worked in community development in Somerset since 2005, working with community groups in towns on community planning and engagement, firstly for South Somerset District Council followed by Somerset Market Towns Forum. He works one day a week for SCIPP.
SCIPP works with a number of highly experienced consultants who have been selected for their in-depth knowledge and experience of the voluntary and community sector. The SCIPP Independent Commissioning Advisory panel is an example of this.
