Organisational Structure

The Board

The Board of SCIPP is made up of trustees appointed by the membership and from December 2009 will be chaired by an externally appointed Independent Chair (not a trustee).

Independent Chairperson

Mel Usher was appointed independent Chair at the SCIPP AGM in 2009. Mel has a rich background in local government. He has worked in planning, urban regeneration and community development at Tower Hamlets, Islington, West Lancashire, Wigan, Blackburn and South Somerset. In the late 1990s Mel came up with the concept of an improvement agency for local government, which was taken up by the LGA and in government circles, and was appointed the IDeA’s first chief executive. 

 

Trustees

Libby Lisgo has been CEO of Age Concern Somerset since 1994 (50 staff and 300 volunteers). For the last four years she has been a Trustee of Age concern England, was a member and past Chair of South West Forum and also a past Chair of the Social, Economic and Environmental partners of the South West Regional Assembly.

 

Sharon Legg CEO Taunton Deane CVS is a qualified Social Worker and has a Diploma in Management Studies and a qualification in the management of volunteers. She worked for Pembrokeshire County Council for 25 years as a Community Care Manager and then moved to CAB to manage a local bureau. Sharon joined Taunton Deane CVS in 2008.

 

Katrina Midgley CEO Engage West Somerset. Katrina has a background in business and banking. More recently she has worked in the voluntary sector for ten years in a variety of roles as researcher, project worker, trustee and manager. Since July 2007 Katrina has been Joint Manager of Engage West Somerset and has just been appointed to the role of CEO.

 

Portrait of Angela Kerr CEO ViSTAAngela Kerr CEO Vista. Angela has over 20 years experience as a senior officer within the VCS across a range of subject areas. Angela holds a certificate in VCS Management, a Post-Graduate Diploma in managing performance and Change and an MSc in Voluntary Sector Management. Angela is a member of the Institute of Fundraising.

 

Portrait of Richard Pitman CEO ViSTARichard Pitman CEO Compass Disability Services. Richard has worked within the voluntary sector in Somerset since 1994, first for Taunton Deane and West Somerset Advice Service which later became DIAS. He was then Development Worker of SAIN (Somerset Action and Inclusion Network) and became CEO in 2006.
